Why Women's Studies?
Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary program that examines women, men and gender roles from historical and contemporary perspectives. Women's Studies courses do more than examine women's lives. They also provide a context for the study of women, men and gender that takes into account issues of race, ethnicity, class, ability, national origin, religion and sexual orientation. Students involved in the Women's Studies Program take classes ranging from Feminist Theory and Women in the Holocaust to The Politics of Reproduction and Philosophical Issues of Feminism. Graduates of Women's Studies Programs pursue careers in teaching, writing, public advocacy and many other fields.
